Fall Classes start soon

I teach classes through the Jefferson County, WV School District’s Adult & Community Education. Please contact them at for session dates and cost. http://boe.jeff.k12.wv.us//Domain/51

Fall is here, school is starting and so are sewing classes. Beginner class starts Tuesday, October 2nd and goes for 4 weeks. Intermediate sewing starts Thursday, September 6th and is 6 weeks. Get registered now to be sure you get a spot.

There are  also some “Complete Your Own Project” Sessions. This is a time to work on your own project with guidance and instruction as needed. You must bring your own sewing machine and supplies. Sign up for any one or more of the following sessions:

Saturdays 9 AM – 12 noon &/or 1 PM – 4PM
September 29th, October 27th, December 1st.

Cost is $15.00 per 3 hour session or $25.00 for 2 sessions on the same day. And I will be giving a free sewing notion to anyone who registers.

NEW this semester: Serger class! Learn how to use that serger that you have but don’t know what to do with! Starts Thursday, November 29th and is 3 weeks.

I have a Serger!

After wanting one for many years, I finally have a serger. I have only tried it out a little so far but what I have done, I can tell I will really like using it.

My new “toy”

Summer sewing classes

For the summer, I am only doing some “Complete Your Own Project” Sessions. This is a time to work for people to work on their own projects with guidance and instruction as needed. Since the classroom with the sewing machines is not available during the summer and people tend to be busier, I thought a 6 week series would not get as much of a response. I am hoping to get enough students to run these few classes, though.

Saturdays 9 AM – 12 noon &/or 1 PM – 4PM
June 30th, July 28th. August 25th

Cost is $15.00 per 3 hour session or $30.00 for 2 sessions on the same day.

As an added incentive, I am giving away a sewing notion to everyone who signs up and attends at least one session.

Gearing up for classes!

I am getting excited for classes to start again next week. Here is what we will be making:

Beginner Class: Pajama Pants, Simplicity 2290
Intermediate Class: Choose skirt (zipper) Simplicity 2314 of blouse (sleeves) Simplicity 8523 or Butterick B5390

I hope to have lots of new students as well as returning ones.

See you soon!

Back to regular life

I just returned from a 4 day out of town trip to celebrate my mother’s birthday with her. It was a great time and a lot of fun, but now it is time to get back to reality.

Last week’s sewing classes went very well. The class sizes are small, but that is OK. Last session the beginner class was almost too big. Everyone seems eager and anxious to learn so we should have a lot of fun. The advanced class is getting adventurous with what they want to try so we will see how everyone does with their projects. I am sure all will do very well.

My sister gave me an idea of a very simple project I can do with the classes if we finish other projects earlier. I am not going to say yet what it is, I will save that so it will be a surprise to those in class who might be reading here.

On to lesson planning for this week!
